What do we mean by "catering sector"?
The caterer ("traiteur") is a skilled tradesman in the food sector, whose activity is based on:
- the production of take-away meals (cold or warm meals, unique meals, desserts,…) and the sale of these products in its own shop.
- the organisation and provision of food at events (weddings, family gatherings, business lunches and dinners, seminars, conferences, etc) in places other than restaurants.
Caterers can have various activities and be:
- Solely caterers
- Butcher / caterer
- Delicatessen / caterer
- Fishmonger / caterer
- Owner of a restaurant and caterer
- Patisserie / caterer
